So, you might be asking yourself “what is the best explainer video?”. To answer that question we need to first start off with “what is an explainer video?”. In this video blog post I’m going to break down what an explainer video is and what makes an explainer video so effective. Lets get started.

[bra_highlight style=’highlight1′]WHAT IS AN EXPLAINER VIDEO?[/bra_highlight]
The short answer is, a one to two minute video that explains the idea behind a product, service, or event. But, what makes a great explainer video is the science behind it’s success. The best explainer videos usually have some very specific attributes.

[bra_highlight style=’highlight1′]STORY & SCRIPTWRITING[/bra_highlight]
The story is the backbone behind every great explainer video. It almost always starts off with a common problem by Joe, Jane, or Bob and the problem is always clear and to the point. Within 20sec of the script the solution is mentioned which is the product or service. Then you talk about how the product or service helps the main character. And lastly, the best explainer videos always end with a strong call to action and a catch phrase to sum it up.

[bra_highlight style=’highlight1′]VOICE OVER[/bra_highlight]
Every great explainer video has a very very… very casual and friendly tone. Usually putting in extra uhs, ahs, and slurs to bring home that tone. The best voice over artists for explainer videos should sound as if they are having a conversation with a real person.

[bra_highlight style=’highlight1′]ILLUSTRATION[/bra_highlight]
-Illustration: The design style for the most amazing explainer videos are usually very slimmed down, some are barley sketches. This helps to not distract from the main message.

[bra_highlight style=’highlight1′]ANIMATION[/bra_highlight]
Animation for an explainer video is what makes them so enjoyable to watch and so amazingly shareable. The animations for the best explainer videos are very advanced and what sets the amazing explainer videos apart from the crap explainer videos. Each illustrated asset has to be carefully placed frame by frame to bring the whole video to life. When you watch your next explainer video look closely at the animated detail like blinking eyes, inertia, and transitions. In the best explainer videos they are amazing.

[bra_highlight style=’highlight1′]MUSIC TRACK[/bra_highlight]
To bring home the fun and friendly tone, a music track is added that is almost always annoyingly happy. Major chords, happy whistle melodies, and acoustic guitar are just some of the sounds that make up the happy tracks.

[bra_highlight style=’highlight1′]SOUND EFFECTS[/bra_highlight]
Every great explainer video is finalized with complementary sound effects and design. From funny crashes to simplistic footsteps, the sound effects really bring out every animation and transition.
